About Terry
Terry McMiles was born in Sydney in 1945, educated at Sydney Technical High  School, worked in a Bank for a couple of years and then became a Professional Tennis Coach.

At the age of 19, he took on a job as a "Lister" for the Real Estate firm of Knight & Ogden whilst still working at night as a Tennis Coach.  (Listing commission was just 5%).

After 6 months, Rick Knight gave him the opportunity of selling homes.  The office was on the Georges River at Blakehurst, which in those days was the premier suburb in the St George district.
Terry became a licenced Auctioneer and Knight & Ogden became well known for their "on site" Auctions of Luxury homes in the Blakehurst - Kangaroo Point areas.

After a couple of years, Terry became a partner in the firm, and with Rick Knight he opened new offices in Hurstville, Caringbah & Beverly Hills.  These offices were franchised and Knight & Ogden was the
first Sydney Agent to franchise it's name and method.

Seeking new challenges, Terry moved from Real Estate in the 1970's to
Investment advising, forming a partnership with Adrian McCabe where for several years he co-wrote "The McCabe-McMiles Letter" a monthly newsletter on Investment.  He was licenced by the (then) Corporate Affairs Comission as an Investment Advisor and co-wrote 2 books - "The Real Estate Investment Manual" and "Analysing Investment Alternatives".

Terry then "took a U-turn", and on the death of his father, became involved in the Business his father and mother had set up in Lapidary supplies and Gemstones.  He then began importing stones & components for the retail business and this lead to the importing of Fashion Jewellery.  Further down the track a chain of 14 retail outlets "Head to Toe" were established by Terry & his wife Mei, and these were sold in 1989 when they moved to Queensland.

Terry & Mei opened a Gift Warehouse business which was unsuccessful.  A concept they thought was brilliant didn't work for them.  They then went back to Jewellery, both wholesaling and selling on the weekends at the Carrara Markets.

In the late 1990's they took a contract running a packaging labour force for a company manufacturing Bath Aroma Bombs.  In the year 2000 Terry & Mei purchased the business and Mei did most of the running of that business with the help of family.

In August 2002, Terry was approached by one of his old friends & former Clients for advice on a proposal he had been given by a prominent Investment Advisory Company in Sydney for the disposal of his Real Estate Portfolio.  In typical Terry fashion he advised his friend that the advice he had received was "rubbish".  He was then asked if he would be prepared to act as a consultant in disposing of the Portfolio. He agreed.

As a result of this, Terry's love of
Real Estate was rekindled.

With the help of Andrew Robinson in Sydney (who had bought one of the K & O franchises many years ago and whom Terry trusted) Terry engineered the sales of the various properties in the Portfolio for
an end result the equivalent of several million dollars more than the "high profile Experts" had suggested as possible.

Enjoying the experience immensely Terry decided that a career change was the way to go to get him back to his first love. . . .Real Estate.  In 2004 he studied by correspondence to obtain a full Real Estate Agents Licence in Queensland.
Rather than seek the licence based on his past experience, Terry actually did every module of the course to ensure that his skills were "updated" in every area.

Terry passed every one of the 23 modules at first attempt, and received his full Real Estate Agents Licence in January 2005.

Because of his extensive experience in Investment Advising, Terry has chosen to deal in Real Estate that includes a business component.   Being on the Gold Coast, the obvious areas to specialise in were
Hospitality Properties and Management Rights.   Rather than follow the same pattern of operation that is followed by others in the Industry, Terry is fast building a reputation as a true independent, offering both sellers & buyers a refreshingly different level of service.

Mei now works with Terry in the Brokerage business and together they manage their own Management Rights in a Complex at Parkwood where they also have their office.
